Wedding Symbols
I am the Matron of Honor in an upcoming wedding for a dear friend of mine and I have been sorting through various wedding symbols in order to find just the right details for the brides bridal shower. This is not such an easy task because the theme of the shower is NASCAR racing. Yes. NASCAR racing.
It is difficult enough to consider the many wedding symbols when planning a bridal shower but to add racing into the mix is mind-boggling. I have come up with some interesting ideas, though. There are a lot of things to consider but I think that I am on my way to merging fast cars with wedding symbols, well, almost.
One of the classic wedding symbols is the wedding bells. When many women think of bells, they immediately picture a little, white church and a long white gown. We cant help it. I do know that I want to consider the bells as wedding symbols but Im not quite sure how to fit that into NASCAR racing.
I guess that I can incorporate the bells into a game. I was thinking of using die-cast cars as bridal shower favors. We could race the cars using the bells to signal the start. The wedding symbols would relate to the little races. The fastest car wins a little prize.
This may be going overboard a bit but the idea may work. I just cant imagine the brides great grandmother getting into the racing game. Maybe Ill have her ring the bells. One thing that concerns me is making sure that no one is offended by my using the classic wedding symbols for a race.
My other NASCAR bridal shower idea is to use tea cups as party favors as well. I was thinking about putting a die-cast car into each little cup. The cars would be surrounded by five Jordan almonds. The almonds are wedding symbols representing five wishes for the bride and groom.
This way, the wedding symbols representing the five wishes can be smoothly incorporated to the idea of racing and winning the cup of marriage. This may be a bit of a push but it could work. I have to reconsider having the guest race their little cars, though.
Trying to decide which wedding symbols will work for a NASCAR-themed bridal shower poses quite a dilemma for the Matron of Honor but I am up to the challenge. Come to think of it, the ultimate wedding symbols are rings. Rings resemble a racetrack. Yet another idea.

Depending, again, on how many tables you have at your reception, you could coordinate the tablecloths with the color of the table.
Many times pre-wedding activities center around bachelor and bachelorette parties, but what about a stag party that includes all the members of the brides and grooms families? Why not have a swimming activity for after the whole of the reception is done? Blindfold perhaps a half dozen volunteers and have them do a blind taste test (provide something to clean the palate between sips).
Place a time limit on this (5 minutes is adequate) and have the bride vote on the best dress.
Simply take a picture of the bride and groom and have it matted in a mat several inches larger than the photo itself. Once everyone is done recording their observations, the bride comes back into the room and a prize is awarded to the person with the best observation skills. During there ceremony there are all kinds of possibilities. In this light, you can plan a picnic at the park and bring along games to play. You can often find these in various sizes and at a much lower price, and best of all, they can be worn again.
We all know you have to give a gift when you attend a wedding.
Every bride wants a dress that not only reflects her personality but looks beautiful on her. They can write their guess on a piece of paper and put it in a numbered basket that corresponds with the number on the photo. To this day we don't know what happened. The most popular of course is to invite a male stripper to approach and seduce the unsuspecting bachelorette and embarrass her to death in front of her friends and family (who may be embarrassed too! |
